Culture Transformation

models of care

Mary Angelou says, ‘If you don’t like something change it, if you can’t change it, change your attitude’. The truth is any change in culture needs to begin with self. Be the Change

A powerful project management methodology which enables, empowers and transforms your organisational culture. Once experienced, you will never BE the same.

Person centred care is the ‘buzz’ word of the social and care sectors. Everyone knows about it; everyone supports it, and apparently everyone does it. But if that’s the case, then why is it not the everyday lived experience in our care cultures?

Therein lies the problem: person centred care is not about ‘doing’ or about being ‘done’.  Collaboratively, we can achieve improved care cultures which are meaningful without compromise to compliance and best practice. A culture where people are ‘Free to be Me’.

Our transformation projects enable people who work in the health and social care settings to move this from head knowledge (theory) to a matter of the heart (being).  We focus on meaning, mattering, people and connection as a blueprint for care. It’s time to transform from a culture of doing person centred care to recognising that care is not a task. It’s coming back to the art and heart of care, where people, and moments, matter.

Dare to be different. Dare to dream. Dare to be the change. Create a cultural revolution in your organisation and embrace a different approach to care. You’ll never look back.

Our Model of Care culture change projects are based on the principles of transformation. All represent elements of change and have various symbolic associations.

The Butterfly Approach® is facilitated in the following services:

  • Residential Homes (LTC, care homes, care homes with nursing)
  • Community support programs
  • Day centres
  • Hospital settings

The Dragonfly Approach®

The dragonfly, in almost every part of the world, symbolises change and change in the perspective of self-realisation; and the kind of change that has its source in mental and emotional maturity and the understanding of the deeper meaning of life.

The Dragonfly Approach®, whilst like The Butterfly Approach®, is for all care cultures, not just dementia specific.

We know that person centred approaches are applicable for all care cultures. The Dragonfly Approach® takes the commonalities of these principles and merges them with the individual specialties of the service to reflect a care culture of relevance for all care settings.

With a focus on the deeper meanings of life and similarities with spirituality, mindfulness and wellbeing, this approach specifically is focused on the following care settings:

  • Palliative care and hospice services
  • Mental health
  • Learning disability
  • Generalist health and social care settings

The Chrysalis Approach®

The chrysalis stage is a time of change in which considerable alteration of function and form take place. It is time defined, intensive, dramatic and results in complete transformation.

The concept of The Chrysalis Approach® is for service settings which require an intensive support system in place to recalibrate a new cultural norm prior to considering The Butterfly Approach® or The Dragonfly Approach®.

The chrysalis reflects protection and is often associated with the physical change from one state to another which is time defined and intensive. MCM adopts this approach to support organisations in ensuring foundational systems and processes are robust and effective to support a longer-term culture change project.

In essence, we focus on achieving foundational stability in the short term to ensure success of the longer-term culture transformation.
